ABSTRACT:

This article reflects on the contemporary sociocultural and pragmatic dilemmas that accompany ongoing transformation efforts in TEFL through the optics of a Slovak teacher in Slovak realities. It examines various factors involved in the transition from traditional to a more open, inclusive, and communicative-based teaching-learning process. Specifically, it focuses on diversity, motivation, globalising/localising aspects, AI integration, technological substitution of teachers, and other sociocultural and pragmatic issues.
