ABSTRACT:

Social interaction has been transformed through postmodernism, thus emotional and personal life has been redefined. The construction of emotions emerges in a relational way, as an answer to how we connect in a face to face and digital interaction; these allow certain bonds to be closer or distant than others. The digital interaction has amplified the contact with the other, now the private self is represented also as a public and emotional self in social media. This displacement of time and space through social media for the construction of emotions requires a contextual and cultural analysis to understand nowadays how the youth can express or suppress certain emotions. In this sense, this proposal aims to understand the emotional experience of university students in Puebla, Mexico, having the university as a social key space. This paper is a theoretical proposal which refers to emotional work as the process someone can manage or not an emotion, understanding the dynamic category of emotions, the socialization of these through different spheres such as face to face and digital interaction, and the meanings of the bonds that students build with diverse actors such as peers or professors. Acknowledging the context of Puebla, Mexico also variables such as genre, class and origin are taken into account for the selection of the conceptual framework, in this way the proposal goes from a structural frame to a microsocial one to analyze the dynamics of interaction and socialization of university students.
