Finding My Voice Through Research

Josée Landriault

ABSTRACT:

My journey through the Laurier Master of Education program was both stressful and fulfilling. Building on years of experience as a mother, teacher, leader and disability theorist and on reflections stemming from my MEd courses, I have produced a thoughtful, defining narrative that combines personal lived experience with research to explore how leadership informs theory. In this narrative, I will discuss how my son’s Autism diagnosis shaped my career as a disability theorist. Next, I will discuss the importance of the transdisciplinary team approach in working with families of students with special education needs.
