ABSTRACT:

Previous studies indicate an association between students’ perceptions of their academic institution and their academic success. However, the factors that shape how students perceive their institution remain insufficiently understood. Research in this field has focused mainly on the external environment in which students are situated. The present study examined 215 undergraduate students and investigated the relationship between several dimensions of students’ personality and their perceptions of their academic institution. The findings indicate that personality explains a significant proportion of the variance in students’ perceptions of their academic institution. This finding suggests that models addressing students’ satisfaction with their academic institution should consider not only students’ external environment but also internal learner characteristics, such as personality.
