ABSTRACT:
The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing the education landscape. This paper examines the impact of AI on education. It highlights the potential benefits of AI on personalized learning and adaptive assessment, alongside acknowledging the challenges of AI on the digital divide and privacy concerns. This paper underscores the ethical imperative of integrating AI into education, outlining guidelines prioritizing human interaction, equitable access, and student privacy, ensuring the reliability of the learning process, the authenticity of student work, and the accurate citation of references through a better understanding of AI potential. This paper provides practical recommendations for educators to integrate AI into their work. Examining the teacher’s role in AI empowers educators to enhance and improve their teaching methods. This study employed a mixed-methods approach to examine teachers’ AI literacy and experiences. Quantitative surveys measured their AI knowledge and usage, while qualitative interviews delved into their perspectives on AI use and its impact on their work. Ninety-five teachers from various school levels participated. Most teachers lack AI literacy and primarily focus on ethical concerns when using AI in education. They struggle to identify AI-generated work and evaluate student outcomes effectively but believe professional development can help address these issues. The study suggests that teacher-training programs should prioritize AI integration. These include enhancing AI literacy, implementing innovative pedagogical approaches, and equipping teachers with the skills needed for future education.
