The renovation of the higher educational system is aimed at rethinking the role of self-education in the development of a well-rounded, competitive teacher, including future foreign language teachers, and the formation of their professional knowledge and skills. The self-educational activity of future foreign language teachers in Slovakia in the terms of globalization is closely related to the constant creative search. The synthesis of creativity and self-education creates pedagogical conditions for updating the professionalism of specialists, improving their value orientations in the information society of the XXI century. In the context of solving the problem of forming the self-educational competence of future foreign language teachers, we have identified the following pedagogical principles on which this process can be built, which we refer to as general pedagogical principles: the principle of continuity, which provides for the organization of self-education activities on a continuous basis; the principle of purposefulness provides for the structure and systematic acquisition of new skills and knowledge in accordance with a specific goal and objectives; the principle of integration, which implies the interconnection of all components of the self-education process as a systemic process; motivational principle focus on self-education in the process of professional training, i.e. interest in future pedagogical activity and development of intellectual and creative abilities of future foreign language teacher. Taking into account the theory and practice of self-development of the individual and formation of future foreign language teachers‘ self-educational competence, we proposed the author’s interpretation of the concept of “future foreign language teachers” self- educational competence’ as an integrated personal formation that reflects the readiness and ability to self-educational activity in relation to creative development, self-analysis and self- control of the use of innovative technologies for teaching foreign languages.
