ABSTRACT:

Reggio Emilia Inspirational Approach, one could call it wonder. This theory speaks of a fresh, new perspective that the protagonists of this fascinating story have brought to the classroom and indeed to their lives. In my opin- ion, to be capable of wonder is to be fully human. Our innate drive to know and the joy that we find in learning is founded in this capacity. The capacity to be amazed opens one to the unknown and to the beauty and poetry found within the act of seek- ing knowledge. It is awe and wonder that informs this book and the experiences described here. Unfortunately, it is increasingly rare that school is a place where we are amazed, but the educational journey can be one in which it is possible, among other things, to uphold wonder as fundamental and necessary. This is the wonder that can be seen in the eyes of children, through whom we ourselves must find the courage to see things afresh. If we don’t allow ourselves to lapse into routines that keep us from seeing things as new and different, then we can be open to the wonder and the richness that every- day events offer.
