Using Practical Informatics Course to Reveal the Student Chosen Role Model

ABSTRACT:

To see the future of a country, one need to look at their teenagers and to see how the teenagers would perform in the future, is to reveal whom their role models are. The one who ruled the future of the country normally finished at least their first degree. This study use practical class of informatics course in revealing the role model of the first year students. Students from four different courses at Health Faculty, Universiti Sains Malaysia has been chosen to participate in this study. The results shown that only 13.5 percent choose artists either local or international as their idols and none of their chosen idols involved in drugs or bad influence in real life, 16.2 choose world leaders as their role model and 71.1 percent choose successful people in academic, business and other fields around the globe. From the results of the study, thus, we can conclude that most of the students would success in their life, become good leaders and would be beneficial to the development of the country. Several recommendations can be done to tackle the teenagers’ inspirations especially through streaming media starting kindergarten. Government also may also use school assembly and talk or during motivation time to promote good leaders for primary and secondary school students.
