Taniya Ahuja and Dr. Rajat Kant Mitra
ABSTRACT:
This study investigates the efficacy of a lexical approach in fostering language internalization in a bilingual student diagnosed with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) and Attention- Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). This research explores how a lexicon-driven approach, focusing on curriculum-based informal reading inventory, can support language development across academic performance and within social perspective. The study employs a mixed-methods design, combining quantitative measures of vocabulary growth and qualitative analysis of student language use in naturalistic settings. The findings suggest that the lexical approach potentially promotes vocabulary acquisition and fluency in bilingual students with SLD and ADHD. This research contributes insights into effective pedagogical strategies for supporting the unique linguistic needs of this population, advocating for inclusive practices that empower diverse learners to reach their full potential.
