Digital Transformation in VAT School; The Case of Greek Institutions
Prof. Dr. Theodoros Tsirigotis
ABSTRACT:
Background of the Study
Digital transformation in education is characterized by integrating digital technologies into teaching and learning processes to improve the educational experience. In Greece, higher education institutions are increasingly adopting tools like Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance personalized learning and streamline administrative tasks. AI helps in adapting teaching methods to student needs and offers real-time feedback, which improves engagement and learning outcomes. However, for successful integration, educational institutions must invest in infrastructure, such as high-speed internet and digital tools, and train staff adequately.
Statement of the Problem
Despite its potential, the adoption of emerging technologies like AI and Augmented Reality (AR) in Greek higher education has been under-researched, particularly in terms of long-term effects on teaching quality, accessibility, and equity. There are concerns about the potential for educational inequalities as technology adoption increases. Research Questions and Objectives
This study explores how Greek institutions can integrate AI into their practices, aiming to identify challenges, assess the impact on pedagogical approaches, and evaluate resistance from educators.
Significance of the Study
By examining AI’s role in enhancing education, this research will inform strategies to optimize resource allocation, improve administrative efficiency, and prepare students for future job markets while ensuring equal access and ethical use of technology.
