ABSTRACT:

School principals behave in various ways to search for information to ensure the quality of school action plans. To determine information seeking behaviors of the school principals, a descriptive survey method was used, and a questionnaire was developed and surveyed using random sampling technique to 195 principals working in governmental schools in the State of Kuwait. The findings showed that school principals used various information resources, but they mostly depend on the headteachers, skilled and creative staff, and social media respectively. Despite minor differences between male and school principals regarding their information seeking behavior, the top practices behaviors were respectively indicated that school principals tend to hold a periodic meeting, discuss the action plans with governing body of the school, review previous data and information, provide feedback to staff, value staffs’ ideas, revise and examine the new data and information, and provide the school team-works with all updated regulations. However, school principals less likely to use latest technologies, to seek knowledge from other school principals, to walk through the school workplaces, to compare new results with the previous ones. Based on the finding, some recommendations were suggested such as, encouraging school principals to use contemporary information resources and to attend professional workshops and training courses focus on modern information technology applicable in the field of school administration.
