ABSTRACT:

The integration of digital technologies and e-learning platforms in higher education is expected to significantly improve educational outcomes. This integrative literature review aims to investigate the extent to which these technological interventions can improve the design, development and delivery of learning units and the impact they have on teacher effectiveness and job satisfaction. A comprehensive search of several academic databases was conducted, resulting in 366 papers. After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria focusing on relevance, quality and publication in the last 10 years, 9 papers were selected for final analysis. The analysis of the selected papers shows a consensus on the positive role of digital technologies and e-learning platforms in higher education. These studies report improvements in interactive delivery of learning content, eagerness to learn and increased student satisfaction, motivation and engagement. The synthesis of results also suggests that these technologies are associated with better collaboration between students and teachers. In addition, there is evidence of a positive impact on teacher efficiency and job satisfaction, highlighting the importance of strategic adoption and use of these tools. Overall, these papers suggest that meaningfully integrated digital tools can enhance the design of learning units and contribute to a supportive teaching environment. The effective implementation of such technologies has the potential not only to enrich the learning experience, but also to create a conducive working environment for faculty that contributes to greater job satisfaction and efficiency.
