Investigating Prep Year Saudi Students’ Attitudes Towards Different Feedback Methods to Improve Their Writing in EFL Classrooms
Alaa Alhazmi
ABSTRACT:
This study explores teachers’ views on the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) tools into educational environments and their potential impact on student achievement. Rapid advancements in artificial intelligence technology offer significant opportunities to improve the educational process by providing personalized feedback, supporting diverse learning needs, and improving overall efficiency. Despite these benefits, successful implementation of AI in the classroom largely depends on teachers’ attitudes and experience with these tools. Using a descriptive qualitative research design, this study explores the experiences of high school teachers at Lorma University and the School of Basic Education and focuses on the practical applications and challenges of AI in teaching practice. Data were collected through interviews with eight participants/teachers selected through purposive sampling. The theoretical framework includes the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), social cognitive theory, and connectionist theory to assess teachers’ acceptance and use of AI. Results show that AI can improve personalized learning and reduce repetitive tasks, but teachers face challenges such as data privacy concerns, lack of appropriate training, and potential bias in AI algorithms. The study also highlights the importance of teacher training and support to maximize the benefits of AI integration. This study provides valuable insights into the practical impact of AI in education and provides recommendations for effective implementation to improve teaching strategies and student learning outcomes. This study aims to contribute to the ongoing discourse on educational technology by highlighting the need for a balanced approach that considers both the benefits and limitations of AI in the classroom.
