ABSTRACT:

This study examines similarities and differences in creativity at the workplace among tourism organizations in selected Baltic Sea Region countries: Lithuania, Poland and Sweden. Creativity at the workplace contributes to tourism service innovation, organizational adaptability, and competitiveness in the tourism sector. The study employed a cross-sectional quantitative design, and data were collected using a Computer-Assisted Web Interview survey from respondents in tourism organizations in Lithuania, Poland, and Sweden (N=436). Creativity at the workplace was measured using the Creativity at Workplace Organization Scale. Data were analyzed using nonparametric Kruskal-Wallis tests and Multinomial Logistic Regression. The findings reveal both similarities and differences across the national samples. Tourism organizations in all three countries reported generally positive perceptions of creativity at the workplace. Lithuania and Poland demonstrated comparable levels, whereas Sweden reported significantly higher levels. Lithuanian tourism organizations emphasized reflection on tasks and performance and creative customer care, Swedish organizations emphasized problem-solving and new approaches, and Polish organizations emphasized task attractiveness and rewarding creative achievements. Part of this research (in Lithuania and Sweden) was carried out in the framework of the project “NordTournet-4: Developing the Creativity of Tourism Workers Through the Use of Artificial Intelligence Powered Tools to Create New or Improve Existing Tourism Services” (No. NPAD-2022/10078).
