The Construction of Human Settlements and Its Relationship with Climate Resilience in Mexico

ABSTRACT:

Today in Mexico there is a growth of energy consumption for buildings environmental conditioning. Temperature increases will generate increases in requirements for human comfort and it will result in an impact on exponential exploitation of hydrocarbon reserves and its consequence towards weather events increasingly extreme.
The projections indicate that the surface temperature will continue to rise throughout the 21st century. In this sense, there are linkages between human health and climate resilience. So, efforts are necessary for both communication and the analysis of the effects to mitigate these problems in the context of other environmental determinants and behavioral. Within heat sensitive regions, urban populations are the most vulnerable to heat-related adverse outcomes in health. So, the increases in temperature coupled with the effect of the island of heat in the cities represent a risk to the health of the population.
Mitigation requires the effectiveness of institutions and governance, innovation and investments in technologies and environmentally sound infrastructure from a vision of a green economy is thriving and dynamic. Finally, proposed actions and strategies between the different actors in the public and private sector for to mitigate the effects of temperatures on the health of the population, i.e., that effective measures are taken with regard to buildings and sustainable infrastructure. These measures contribute to the mitigation of global climate change as well as to the effect of rising temperatures and the heat island.
