Climate Resilience in Rural Agriculture: a Case Study of Ndwedwe Farmers

ABSTRACT:

Climate change is increasingly disrupting agricultural systems, particularly in vulnerable rural communities. This study examines the impact of climate variability on crop production and food security among smallholder farmers in Ndwedwe, South Africa. Using qualitative and quantitative methods, field surveys, interviews, and climate data analysis and the research identify key stressors including erratic rainfall, rising temperatures, and soil degradation. Findings reveal a significant decline in maize yields and increased food insecurity. The study highlights the urgent need for climate-smart agricultural practices and targeted policy interventions. These insights contribute to the global discourse on sustainable adaptation strategies for small-scale farming communities.
