Energy Law and Strategy in Hungary: What May the Future Hold?

Dr. Zsófia Biró

Since the launch of the European Green Deal, EU Member States have placed even greater emphasis on the detailed development of energy and climate plans, and on the proper design and enforcement of regulation.

In my presentation and study, I will present and analyse the main orientations of the Hungarian National Energy Strategy, the National Energy and Climate Plan and the National Hydrogen Strategy from a regulatory perspective. Which objectives have already been partially or fully achieved and have a regulatory background and which objectives are still to be regulated.

Examples of areas that are essential in this context are electric charging networks, energy communities, micro grids, and their associated smart meters, blockchain technology and many more.

The research also includes the presentation of the objectives of the national climate plan and, in this context, the expected future development of the Hungarian energy mix, the analysis of energy supply and security issues.
