Validation of a Didactic Model for the Understanding of Academic Texts in Higher Education

ABSTRACT: 

This research focuses its attention on the scientific problem: How to contribute to the process of understanding academic texts in students of Colombian university education? The objective was to propose a didactic model that contributes to the understanding of academic texts of students of Colombian university education.  The research developed was supported on the mixed methods of research, the design and validation of the didactic model for the understanding of academic texts was made through the delphi method, expert criteria. The latter used statistical methods for the analysis of the results.

The use of a system of research methods made possible the study of the state of the art, the realization of the diagnosis, the elaboration of a didactic model for the understanding of academic texts in Colombian university education structured in the theoretical-conceptual and methodological components and a methodology for its concretion in practice, organized in three stages:  diagnosis, execution and control. The contributions offered are directed to the sciences of Education as they enrich the Didactics of language in university education, by relating the cognitive, procedural and attitudinal dimensions in the understanding of academic texts of students, according to the particularities of the Faculty of Virtual Distance Education, in a didactic model with its essential relationships and orientation in educational practice that allows to articulate the process of understanding  academic texts aimed at responding to the needs of the context of Higher Education in Colombia.
