The Role Of Creative Cultural Industries In The Sustainable Development Of Cities
Corina Rotar, Ioana Lepădatu
Responsible local authorities and the cultural community are interested in how investing in the creative cultural industries can ensure the overall development of a community. Academic research also argues in favor of the idea that cultural activity in a city leads to the creation of an entire ecosystem that will increase the overall attractiveness of the city.
This case study presents, through a synchronous and diachronic analysis of the cultural and communication strategy, how a multicultural city in Southeastern Europe (anonymous and too unattractively one) has managed a cultural, economic, technological and academic repositioning, with the help of an urban development strategy, with an important cultural component.
The results indicate the vector of economic development that the creative cultural industry has represented for the city of Cluj-Napoca, in Transylvania, Romania.
In the article it is argued also the importance of communication that ensures the link between the creative community and the business community, that has the strength to finance creative ideas.
