Improving and Facilitating Enhancement in Terms of Care for Adults with Disabilities in Singapore
Eunice Tan (PhD), Ivy Chia (PhD)
This research examined the different ways to improve and enhance the care aspect for adults with disabilities. In Singapore, many of the staff working with adults with disabilities do not have the qualification or experience to help these adults. With better-trained staff, the assumption is that it would benefit the clients, and therefore the prognosis and expected trajectory for the adults with disabilities would also be improved. In this pilot project, the researcher intended to evaluate the efficacy of the staff level of competency and areas of concern that might be lacking in their support for adults residing or in their care. This study involved the implementation of interviews with four staff from each social service agency that dealt with adults with disabilities as their clients.
