ABSTRACT:

The study analyses the most significant barriers to university and industry collaboration in Latvia (UIC). The study highlights the significant impact of UIC on the valorization of innovation.
While Latvia is an emerging innovator – according to the European Innovation Scoreboard 2023, UIC is an essential issue in the strategy to develop an innovation ecosystem in Latvia. The study aims to identify the barriers to UIS through semi-structured interviews with experts in Latvia from the private and public sectors. The findings indicate that the most significant barriers are: a lack of knowledge of the practice of international relations, the bureaucratic burden of public funding, and the fragmentation of priorities of the political agenda.
