ABSTRACT:

The aim of the project is to demonstrate the outcomes of interdisciplinary teaching in higher religious education as an alternative approach to disciplinary education. The curriculum of interdisciplinary teaching will involve the complex issues of disciplinary theological education. Two scholars from different disciplines will discuss the common issues of both disciplines in consecutive lectures from the perspective of theology as well as other disciplines such as psychology, sociology, music, medicine, economics, and law. Students will gain interdisciplinary knowledge and perspectives by seeing how these disciplines agree and disagree with one other. Interdisciplinary teaching will contribute to students’ personal and professional development as well as to the development of the curriculum in higher religious education. The research will use qualitative research methods and carry out a focus group interview with the participating students. Criterion sampling will be used to determine 15-20 participants from final year undergraduate students of higher religious education. The research data will be analyzed using the software programme Nvivo_10 to reveal the outcomes of the interdisciplinary teaching in higher religious education on the participants’ views.
