ABSTRACT:

Albania, like other countries of the world, experienced a decline in economic development as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Covid-19 pandemic hit many sectors of the economy, marking a significant drop in GDP. For 2020, the growth rate was -3.48%, being accompanied by an increase in the number of unemployed, mainly among young people.
After 2020, the number of people migrating from Albania, especially young people, increased significantly. According to INSTAT, in 2021 the number of emigrants is about 42 thousand, causing problems in all sectors of the economy. If emigration will continue with the same proportions in the future, the labor markets will face shortages of labor force and especially qualified labor force.
There is a need to invest in the human capital, which not only impact in the labour market but also contributes to economic development of the country. The aim of this paper is to analyze the interaction of migration and human capital in the labour market in Albania.
