ABSTRACT:
TESL pre-service teachers are now exposed to a variety of presentation software or tool due to technological advancements. This is one way to assist them in enhancing their teaching style. Recent studies showed there are different ways for TESL pre-service teachers to integrate the use of presentation software to teach four main English skills; listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. In fact, some studies highlighted that the use of slide presentations in the classroom can enhance students’ interest in learning and attract their attention. Hence, the purpose of this study is to discover the preferences of TESL pre-service teachers toward the presentation software in teaching the English language. The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), which is one of the most widely used models for understanding the use and acceptance of technology and information systems by individual users, served as the foundation for this study. This research employed mixed-method research. The survey was conducted among 50 TESL pre-service teachers from three different well-known universities, and four of them joined the semi-structured interview voluntarily. The findings reveal that the respondents used different presentation software or tools such as Canva, Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Slides, Prezi, and PowToon, and the most frequently used presentation software is Canva. Finally, the findings of the study could assist English preservice teachers and teachers to choose the most preferred presentation software for their English classroom.
