ABSTRACT:

The design and application of an escape room in higher education have become increasingly popular, and there are currently many studies that provide results on their efficiency for learning purposes in the classroom. However, in translation studies, this methodology has not been widely used yet, and there is still a need to have more research so as to prove (or not) its adequacy for the didactics of specialized translation. Thus, in this presentation, an escape room experience applied to the Financial Translation class will be exposed in order to verify whether it is a success or failure as a way to improve students’ skills for the translation of texts in this area of specialization. The Escape Room will be developed through an online escape room software called Escapp, which allows teachers to analyze different parameters as to which have been the most difficult challenges or those that have required a greater number of clues to be solved. Results will show that the implementation of an escape room opens the door to discovering many new possibilities for the teaching and learning of translation and allows for translation classes to be approached in a different way.
