ABSTRACT:
This study investigates the effects of attitudes toward Artificial Intelligence (AI) on individual change readiness. As AI technology is changing industries and daily lives, understanding what people think of it is pivotal to managing change effectively. The study also examines the moderating effect of cross-cultural differences based on Hofstede’s model of cultural dimensions to perceive how national culture mediates the connection between AI attitudes and change readiness.
Data collected based on cross-national surveys show a greater inclination to embrace change among individuals who are positively inclined toward AI. Individuals who perceive Artificial Intelligence as an opportunity tend to upgrade their skills, embrace new jobs, and adapt their behavior to technological innovation. However, the relationship between the two variables does not hold in every cultural setting. In high uncertainty avoidance cultures, even positive attitude holders toward AI will resist change out of fear of unforeseen effects. In high individualism cultures, personal rewards are more influential in defining readiness for change than collective outcomes.
These findings suggest the overriding value of individual attitudes and culture in preparing people for AI changes. Organizations that implement these technologies successfully need to nurture positive AI attitudes and segment their change management processes according to employees’ cultural nature. Recognizing how AI perceptions function harmoniously with cultural factors can help firms, HR managers, and policymakers implement smoother changes in increasingly globalized environments.
