ABSTRACT:

The rapid evolution of modern technology has created unprecedented opportunities to
transform English language teaching (ELT), yet the integration of linguistic theory
with digital tools remains inconsistent in practice. This paper proposes a
comprehensive framework that systematically combines core principles of applied
linguistics with contemporary technological innovations to enhance ELT outcomes.
Drawing on second language acquisition theories, corpus linguistics, and sociocultural
perspectives, the study examines how digital platforms, artificial intelligence, and
data-driven tools can support language learning across multiple dimensions. The
paper is structured around four major sections. First, it reviews foundational linguistic
theories relevant to technology-mediated instruction, including input-output models,
interactionist approaches, and usage-based grammar. Second, it analyzes key
technological applications such as intelligent tutoring systems, automated writing
evaluation, speech recognition, and corpus-based learning environments. Third, it
presents a pedagogical model for integrating these technologies into listening,
speaking, reading, and writing instruction, with attention to learner variability and
contextual factors. Fourth, it addresses practical challenges including digital equity,
teacher professional development, and algorithmic bias. Findings suggest that
effective integration requires not merely adding technology to existing classrooms but
rethinking pedagogical roles, feedback mechanisms, and assessment practices. The
paper concludes with actionable recommendations for educators, curriculum
designers, and researchers seeking to leverage technology without compromising
linguistic rigor. This interdisciplinary approach aims to bridge the gap between
computational tools and humanistic language education.
