Financial Inclusion and Economic Growth: Managerial and Policy Evidence from Bangladesh
Chowdhury Tauhid Mahmud
ABSTRACT:
Financial inclusion has emerged as a central component of economic and financial sector reform in developing economies, particularly in the context of digital transformation and institutional modernization. This study examines the impact of financial inclusion on economic growth in Bangladesh over the period 2010–2023, with an emphasis on economic performance and financial management implications. Using secondary data from national and international financial databases, key indicators including bank account penetration, private sector credit, and mobile financial service expansion are incorporated into an Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) regression model to assess their relationship with real GDP growth. The empirical findings indicate a positive and statistically significant association between financial inclusion and economic growth, suggesting that broader access to formal financial services enhances capital mobilization, supports small and medium-sized enterprise development, improves resource allocation efficiency, and strengthens overall financial system stability. From a management and policy perspective, the results highlight the importance of digital financial innovation, inclusive banking strategies, and effective regulatory frameworks in fostering sustainable economic development. The study contributes to the literature by providing updated empirical evidence from an emerging South Asian economy and offers practical implications for financial managers, policymakers, and development practitioners seeking to promote inclusive and resilient economic growth.
