A Comparative Analysis of Economic Development in Georgia and Moldova

ABSTRACT:

In the contemporary global economy, one of the main challenges facing developing countries is ensuring stable, long-term, and sustainable economic growth under conditions of globalization, technological progress, and recurring crises. In the 21st century, economic success is increasingly linked to the development of the service sector, innovation capacity, institutional quality, and economic diversification. In this context, a comparative analysis of economic development in Georgia and Moldova from 2015 to the present is particularly relevant, as both countries share a post-Soviet legacy but differ in their economic structures and growth dynamics. The aim of this study is to examine economic growth trends in both countries, evaluate their structural characteristics, and identify the key factors influencing the pace and sustainability of development. The research is based on official statistical data and reports from international organizations. The theoretical framework is grounded in the concept of structural transformation, which emphasizes the reallocation of resources from low-productivity sectors to higher-productivity activities.
