ABSTRACT:

This paper examines contemporary migration processes in Georgia and their evolving socio-political implications within a context of regional geopolitical instability. While existing studies primarily address the economic dimensions of migration, this research argues that migration should be understood as a multidimensional driver of political risk and state vulnerability. Drawing on key theories from international relations and comparative politics, the paper develops an analytical framework that links migration dynamics to state security, political stability, and social cohesion. It identifies the main types and historical patterns of migration affecting Georgia and analyzes the underlying structural causes, including economic disparities, regional conflicts, and shifting geopolitical alignments. As a research methodology article is mainly based on content analyses, comparison of similarities and case study. It uses diversified qualitative and quantitative data sources from different fields.
The study contributes to the literature by highlighting the mechanisms through which migration generates socio-political challenges—specifically through demographic change, labor market transformation, and the reconfiguration of political identities. By integrating sociological, economic, cultural, and political perspectives, the paper offers an interdisciplinary approach to understanding migration as a strategic factor in national security.
The findings suggest that migration is not only a consequence of instability but also a factor that can reshape state resilience and governance capacity in small states such as Georgia.
