ABSTRACT:

This study aimed to analyze Master’s and Doctoral theses approved in the field of physical activity at King Saud University during the period from 2015 to 2025. The primary objectives were to identify the total number of theses, the research methodologies employed, the types of target samples, and the most prominent research domains associated with physical activity. Adopting a descriptive-analytical approach, the research sample consisted of 35 Master’s theses and two Doctoral dissertations retrieved from the King Salman Central Library in Riyadh. Data analysis was conducted using frequencies and cumulative percentages.
The findings revealed fluctuations in the number of approved Master’s theses over the specified years, with the highest frequency recorded in 2022. Furthermore, the results indicated a predominant reliance on various descriptive methodologies among graduate students, with students being the most frequently targeted demographic in the study samples. Additionally, the findings highlighted that research trends and interests significantly converged toward the field of nutrition. In light of these findings, the study recommends the necessity of achieving greater balance and diversity in the distribution of thesis topics to enrich various disciplines within sports science and physical activity. The study also emphasizes the importance of diversifying research methodologies, particularly the integration of quasi-experimental, quantitative, and qualitative approaches. Finally, it calls for expanding the scope of samples to encompass diverse segments of the broader.
