Re-understanding of Quantitative Social Science Paradigms from the Perspective of Human Characteristics
Peng Qi
ABSTRACT:
The rapid development of artificial intelligence has promoted the progress of the traditional quantitative social science paradigm, but it has also further exacerbated its inherent weaknesses. This article focuses on the sampling method and the scale method as the core of analysis, pointing out that the sampling method is difficult to achieve consistency between the sample and the overall characteristics due to the heterogeneity among individuals, and the scale method is limited by the subjectivity of individuals and cannot accurately quantify human psychology. Thus, it further explores the contradictions brought about by human characteristics within the current paradigm. The study believes that social sciences need to construct a new paradigm centered on human characteristics, achieving the separation of humans and objects, promoting interdisciplinary integration, returning to the study of the essence of human beings, and providing a thinking direction for the construction of a more explanatory social science paradigm.
