Integrating Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) Throughout the Teaching Cycle to Enhance Instruction and Learning Outcomes
Hasan Kadhem
ABSTRACT:
Traditional pedagogical approaches have limitations in addressing the diverse needs and learning styles of modern students in today’s knowledge-driven world. To meet the imperative for innovative educational strategies, a paradigm shift towards leveraging cutting-edge technologies like Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) is necessary. The transformative impact of generative AI in education holds great promise for shaping a more effective and inclusive educational landscape in the digital age. This research paper explores the transformative potential of integrating generative AI throughout the teaching cycle, encompassing crucial phases from planning to assessment and feedback. The objective of this research is to explore how generative AI can be integrated throughout the teaching cycle to potentially enhance instruction and learning outcomes. The methodology employed in this study involves a systematic approach to investigate and propose the integration of generative AI technologies. Firstly, the common tasks and activities involved in each teaching cycle phase are thoroughly investigated. Additionally, extensive research is conducted to understand the capabilities of generative AI technologies. Based on the findings, this study proposes innovative ways in which generative AI could support and augment the completion of tasks in each teaching cycle phase. To illustrate the proposed uses of generative AI, example prompts and scenarios are developed. Furthermore, the study investigates implementation considerations for integrating generative AI into each teaching cycle phase. The outcomes provide a foundation for educators and policymakers to make informed decisions about the strategic integration of generative AI technologies, ultimately enhancing instructional practices and improving learning outcomes.
