Discussing the Educational Significance of Travel from Homeric Hymns Odyssey

ABSTRACT:

With the evolution of the times, travel is always associated with happiness, relaxation and food. If this were the case, then many trips would be similar. To make travel more effective, it is necessary to deeply explore the meaning of travel. Homeric Hymns Odyssey describes Odysseus roaming the sea for many years after the Trojan War, experiencing countless hardships and dangers, and finally returning to his hometown. This classic Western adventure tour gives the profound significance of travel in life education is worthy of discussion and reference for modern educators. This study aims to explore the educational significance of travel through various experiences in Homeric Hymns Odyssey on the way home, for reference by educators, and in the hope that students can grow from travel. This study analyzes the educational concepts related to travel from Homeric Hymns Odyssey, explains it in conjunction with the historical background of the poem, and extracts educational concepts suitable for modern times. This study found that: 1. Travel provides a real context for education. 2. Traveling is about letting go of your original conditions, evaluating the new environment, and choosing an appropriate way to deal with it. 3. Travel requires innovative thinking to solve problems encountered in new environments. 4. Traveling allows you to moderately control risks and study in relatively safe conditions. 5. Travel provides opportunities for people to understand each other’s culture from their perspective. 6. Travel is individual-centered, with more opportunities to make decisions and take responsibility. 7. Travel is not to escape reality, but to seek ways to return to reality and solve problems.
