The Correlation Between the Implementation of The Gratuity in The First Cycle of Early Childhood Education and The Increase in Demand for Early Childhood Educators in Castilla Y León

Maria Barrio Romero

ABSTRACT:

The implementation of free early childhood education has been a key aspect of the policies of many regional governments in Spain. Analyzing its impact is crucial to understand its reach beyond domestic economies, recognizing that this implementation has affected employment in the educational sector. Through a quantitative empirical-analytical investigation of a non-experimental type this research uses the Autonomous Community of Castilla y León and its progressive implementation of free places for children aged zero to three as a case study, in order to provide empirical evidence demonstrating that these measures have led to an increased demand for professionals in this sector, more specifically Early Childhood Education Technicians and, thus, contribute to the design of future educational policies.
This research reviews data on children in the first cycle of early childhood education enrolled before, during and after the implementation of free education, as well as the number of active early childhood educators in the process, based on data provided by the education department of this autonomous community.
