Exploring In-Service Teachers’ Lived Experiences in a Professional Development Program: An AI-TPACK Framework Approach

Dr. Bilal Younis

ABSTRACT:

This study explored the experiences of 65 in-service teachers in a Professional Development Program (PDP) based on the AI-TPACK framework, focusing on integrating ChatGPT into classrooms. Using a mixed-method approach, researchers employed a quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test assessments to measure instructional design competencies and acceptance of ChatGPT. A focus group of 12 participants further examined their experiences. Results indicated significant improvements in instructional design competencies, particularly among computer science and language teachers, and acceptance of ChatGPT technology. The study highlights the effectiveness of the AI-TPACK PDP in developing teachers’ integration skills and supports AI in teacher preparation programs.
