ABSTRACT:

With the rapid development of high technology, traditional language teaching is facing significant challenges. Creating a dynamic class that engages students as active learners is vital for an effective foreign language learning environment. This presentation addresses these challenges by providing language instructors with a comprehensive community-based hybrid learning and technology module.
The module focuses on fostering a supportive community, blending online and offline learning, and leveraging technology to create an interactive and stimulating environment. These approaches are designed to promote active participation and enhance language acquisition, ensuring that students achieve their utmost potential for exceptional learning. Key components of the module include: 1. Community Building: Establishing a respectful and warm learning community where students feel valued and supported. 2. Hybrid Learning Opportunities: Combining virtual classrooms, online discussion forums, and digital resources with traditional face-to-face interactions to ensure flexibility and accessibility. 3. Independent Learning Projects: Encouraging self-directed projects that align with students’ interests and goals, promoting autonomy and practical application of language skills. 4. Authentic Materials: Using real-world materials such as news articles, videos, podcasts, and cultural artifacts to make learning relevant and engaging. 5. Technology Integration: Language learning apps, online quizzes, interactive platforms, and multimedia presentations are incorporated to cater to different learning styles and provide instant feedback.
The presentation will showcase a series of pedagogical strategies exemplified through practical examples. These strategies are supported by class surveys, demonstrating growth in student confidence, sense of community, and priorities in second language learning. The data collected from these surveys is used to continually refine and improve the teaching strategies, ensuring a holistic and adaptable foreign language teaching framework that meets the evolving needs of students’ language learning.
