Liminal Spaces and Quantum Reality: Threshold Worlds and Transformation

ABSTRACT:

This paper explores the history, background, and dynamics of liminality, especially as they relate to the insights and research of quantum physics. Special attention is given to the transitional phase of the rites of passage and how the phenomena of transitional time and space described in liminal studies parallel the dynamics observed in quantum mechanics like superposition, quantum entanglement/nonlocality, wave-particle duality, and the uncertainty principle. Comparative studies of both disciplines, especially as regards the liminal-quantum zone, provide additional ways to understand and describe the complex dimensions of material, energetic, and social-psychological shifts that lead to transformation. Theoretical study and practice include models of leadership finely attuned to the interaction of both fields with increased attention given to shifts that take place in individual and collective consciousness.
