ABSTRACT:

Since March 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has forced most universities to ask professors, lecturers, and students to quickly adapt to a new type of examination taken on computers online and remotely. Information from many sources was collected from March 2020 to August 2020, including the synthesis of discussions from a community of university practitioners regarding remote exams. This document presents observations and recommendations for the proposal of new laws and the need for new provincial organizations. We also highlight research needs in training, methods, processes, and software to properly adapt to this new reality and prevent the many problems that were observed. As the Quebec writer Normand Baillargeon would say, ‘I have often had the opportunity to recall how negative effects of ICT manifest themselves, which were not immediately suspected’ (1). This issue will require concrete and rapid action by educational decision-makers to ensure sound preventive management of the many risks that appeared during this unexpected trial period.
