The Importance of Needs Analysis When Teaching One-To-One

Evelise Campagnaro

ABSTRACT:

This session aims to provide the participants with techniques and examples to improve their needs analysis when teaching one-to-oneThe concept of needs analysis and diagnostic tests will be discussed considering the following:A diagnostic test is a test that helps the teacher and learners identify problems that they have with the language. Needs analysis examines what the learners know already and what they need to know. It ensures the course will contain relevant and valuable things to learn. The process of gathering information about students’ needs and preferences, interpreting it, and then making course decisions based on the interpretation to meet their needs is crucial, and it should be discussed in the one-to-one teaching modality. Hands-on: the participants will understand better how to start the needs analysis process in the first class with their students.
