ABSTRACT:

Over the last decade or so there has been an increased interest of using evidence-based research in education. The Sutton Trust-Education Endowment Foundation Teaching and Learning Toolkit was created as a tool for teachers, practitioners and policy makers to help them make informed decisions for using the pupil premium funding. The Toolkit has changed over the years as new research became available and is currently a valuable resource that is updated when new research becomes available. The impact of the Toolkit has been major with 69% of school leaders reporting that they consulted it by 2021 in the UK. The previous version of the Toolkit was a meta-meta-analysis, based on findings from existing meta-analyses. In contrast, the new Toolkit is based on data from single studies. This paper compares findings from both versions and discusses what has changed and what has not in terms of impact. Implications and future directions are also discussed.
