ABSTRACT:
The integration of Virtual Reality (VR) technologies in education can transform learning by providing immersive and interactive experiences that surpass traditional methods. This study presents the Educational Virtual Reality Campus (EVRECA), a scalable and accessible VR platform aimed at enhancing learning in diverse educational contexts. EVRECA was developed based on feedback from educators and students to create a user-friendly and adaptable platform that works efficiently on various hardware, including low-end devices, making it suitable for under-resourced institutions. The VR modules within EVRECA emphasize experiential learning in fields like engineering, medicine, and architecture, where practical interaction is vital for mastering complex topics. Pilot tests showed that students using EVRECA had improved knowledge retention and comprehension. The platform’s design enables easy integration into current curricula without requiring extensive technical skills. Its modular structure supports tailored content, allowing educators to customize the platform to their needs. User feedback was crucial in refining EVRECA’s usability and interface, resulting in a flexible system that adapts to different learning paces and environments. This adaptability is key to its sustainability and relevance across various educational settings. The findings demonstrate EVRECA’s effectiveness in boosting student engagement and learning outcomes, highlighting its potential as a model for future educational technology. In conclusion, EVRECA’s scalable design and accessibility make it a valuable tool for integrating VR in education, even in limited-resource settings. As VR evolves, platforms like EVRECA will play a crucial role in making advanced learning tools widely available.
