ABSTRACT:

The objectives of this study were to: 1) investigate the academic achievement of first-year students majoring in English for Business Management before and after using the online lessons and 2) explore the satisfaction of first-year students majoring in English for Business Management with self-learning through online lessons. This study used a single-group pretest/posttest approach. The sample included 26 first-year students participating in the English for Business Management program. Prior to the class, the students completed a reading skills test. They then participated in online English reading comprehension sessions. Following the study, the students completed a post-test to assess their reading abilities. After the post-test, they filled out a questionnaire. The following statistics were frequently employed in data analysis: mean (Mean), standard deviation (SD), percentage (%), t-test, and Pearson correlation test. The research results revealed that online English reading comprehension lessons for firstyear students majoring in English for Business Management were developed effectively according to the standard criteria of 80/80. Students’ academic achievement improved after taking online English reading comprehension lessons, with statistical significance at the 0.001 level. Students reported “very appropriate” satisfaction with the online English reading comprehension lessons, as well as “positive attitudes” toward learning through online lessons.
