ABSTRACT:

This study investigated the interplay of demographic characteristics, social support, health-related quality of life (HRQoL), ego integrity, and life satisfaction (SWL) among 885 Filipino older adults (aged 60+). Utilizing a cross-sectional survey with purposive sampling, data were collected via online and face-to-face interviews, employing validated scales (MSPSS, EQ-5D-5L, Ego Integrity Scale, SWLS). Results indicated that ego integrity was the strongest predictor of SWL, followed by social support, HRQoL and education, all positively influencing life satisfaction. Notably, age, sex, marital status, and living arrangement were excluded from the final stepwise regression model, suggesting their weaker direct predictive power. Educational attainment positively correlated with social support, ego integrity, and SWL. Marital status negatively correlated with social support, while living with family positively correlated with social support, ego integrity, and SWL. The regression model explained 38% of the variance in SWL, highlighting the significant role of psychosocial factors in life satisfaction. Findings underscore the importance of fostering ego integrity, strengthening social support, and promoting education to enhance well-being in older adults, while also addressing health-related challenges.
