Need Assessment Entrepreneurship Education Design in Junior High School

ABSTRACT:
Entrepreneurship education is not only about creating new businesses and jobs. However, entrepreneurship education can also develop students’ competencies such as creativity, innovative, confident and communicative. This research aims to design a framework for entrepreneurship education in junior secondary schools. The focus of this research is to analyze the entrepreneurship education framework needed by junior high schools to foster entrepreneurial competencies in students. The research used a qualitative approach with questionnaire, documentation and interview methods. The subjects of this study were the principal, vice principal and 2 teachers of junior high school in Aceh, Indonesia. The data analysis technique was conducted with Miles & Huberman. The results of the needs analysis in this study indicate that the competence of entrepreneurship education has been included in the components of the vision, mission, goals and core competencies of the school. However, at the implementation stage, nothing has been practiced at schools in developing entrepreneurship education competencies in students. The results also show that the design of entrepreneurship education needed by schools is a strategy for implementing entrepreneurship education that is infused in one of the subject, namely Social Studies. The school has great hopes in the future to be able to implement entrepreneurship education in schools in order to develop entrepreneurial competencies.
