ABSTRACT:

This poster explores the challenges faced by women in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in a mixed-gender work environment, despite their integration into the workforce after Vision 2030. The objective of this study is to examine the efforts made by feminists’ Saudi women before Vision 2030 in claiming their right to work and education. The central question addressed is whether these efforts were sufficient to secure women’s rights and effect positive change. By analyzing previous studies and the historical context of women’s endeavors, it becomes evident that their efforts were inadequate in achieving their desired outcomes regarding work and education. This inadequacy can be attributed to various factors, including strong opposition from society and, official, and unofficial religious institutions, which exerted considerable influence over the Saudi government. Despite women’s persistent demands and attempts to challenge societal norms, their progress in obtaining equal rights and transforming their status has been hindered. Even after Vision 2030, the strength of societal opposition and the prevailing influence of conservative institutions have significantly impeded the realization of substantial advancements for women in the workforce and education. This poster sheds light on the need for continued efforts to address the remaining obstacles and to create an inclusive and supportive environment that enables women to fully participate in the workforce and pursue educational opportunities.
