ABSTRACT:

In the era of globalization, effective intercultural teaching methodologies based on constructivist principles within virtual learning environments are crucial. This article explores innovative pedagogical strategies to enhance intercultural competence in online, constructivist classrooms for university students studying English for Academic Purposes (EAP). We will first delve into our experimentally tested successful educational solutions within the framework of EAP Conversation Clubs that foster intercultural competence through virtual collaborative projects, discussion forums, and peer feedback mechanisms. Additionally, we will highlight the effectiveness of Generative AI-oriented Certified Online International (COIL) Module program for upgrading the tutees’ soft skills within the synchronous and asynchronous team trainings under the supervision of a Team Leader and Advisory Board. Our COIL Here is a program outline tailored using principles of interdisciplinary connections in virtual education, focusing on constructivist techniques that promote active, student-centered learning. Students of various disciplines, including Mathematics, Kinesiology, Management and Software Engineering have applied their knowledge to design targeted projects that address real-world problem-solving tasks, thereby, enhancing their critical thinking and other soft skills essential to the modern globalized world. Experimentally tested digital tools in our program enable educators to create engaging, interactive, and adaptive online sessions that cater to diverse learning needs and styles, thereby, improving EAP learning outcomes. Our scientific research provides educators with actionable insights and practical strategies to enhance their teaching expertise and better prepare students for academic success in a globalized world.
