Sex Scandals in Defense Leadership: Sonic Therapeutic Approach

Vasudev Das

ABSTRACT:

Although sex scandals research has gained traction, sonic therapeutic intervention for preventing sex scandals in defense leadership is negligible. Grounded in Bandura’s self-regulation and Prabhupada’s sonic therapeutic intervention (STI) frameworks, the researcher explored the lived experiences of eight STI practitioners on how STI prevents sex scandals in defense leadership. Semi-structured interviews from purposeful samples and document analysis constituted the data generation methods of the study. Five themes emerged from a sonographic analysis of the interview data transcription: self-regulation, pro-supramundane orientation, post-conventional consciousness, strong self-control, and value-based consequentiality attitude, all enabled by STI. The five themes on the list made it easier for defense leaders to avoid sexual scandals. The positive social change implications (PSCI) include improved and sustained defense leadership and human resource management in the defense sector, more effective self-leadership, and purpose-driven equity leadership. The findings may also add value to the capacity for self-controlled leadership and sound decision-making. The results may also aid value in lessening the trauma concomitant with sexual assaults as well as the guilt and damaged reputation that accompanies survivors of these crimes.
