ABSTRACT:

Various mediating effects influence the sense of professionalism among educators in the field of early childhood, highlighting their significance for enhancing motivation and effectiveness. Thus, creating a supportive environment and fostering educators’ professional development are crucial. This study aims to explore factors influencing the professional development of early childhood educators. The concept of the “Glass Ceiling Effect” is associated with the mediation of the sense of professionalism to understand and improve processes limiting educators’ progression. The study will contribute to what factors negatively affect the sense of professionalism of educators working in the field of early childhood and how these factors can be overcome. The research involved 115 participants, predominantly female early childhood education professionals working in central districts of Izmir, Turkey. Data were collected through questionnaires, including the Glass Ceiling Scale and Teachers’ Professionalism Scale. The questionnaire comprised sections on demographic characteristics, perceptions of the glass ceiling, and professionalism. Descriptive statistics, chi-square analysis, and independent sample tests were used for analysis. The results will be shared at the congress.
