Redefining the Educators’ Role in the Age of AI
Noosha Mehdian
ABSTRACT:
With advancements in technology, particularly within the realm of artificial intelligence (AI), the role of educators in higher education is undergoing a seismic shift. As we further unveil the capabilities and limitations of AI in reshaping education, it is imperative to reimagine the educator role, to ensure that the students receive the proficiencies and traits they need to thrive in an artificially intelligent epoch. This paper delves into the intersectionality of AI and higher education by emphasizing the educators’ nuanced role in nurturing soft skills, critical thinking, and a balanced integration of ethical use of AI in curricula, both in teaching materials, and assessments. The research and reflection in this evolving landscape, will enable educators to navigate a human-centric future of education, use technology as a tool to augment their pedagogy, and adapt the teaching and learning process towards a more holistic education.
